The Spiritual Responsibility of Israel

Most people who express hatred toward Israel have no explanation for it. They simply do not know. Usually, it has to do with complete ignorance. Yet there is something deeper operating - a drive, an instinct within people, to look at Israel as a notion that is meant to give the world something that it is not giving, or is not able to give. What we hate most is something we feel is obliged to give us something and is preventing us from receiving it. This is what provokes anger and violence, though people will not be able to explain it. They feel it, but they cannot account for it.

For those who chose to be Israel, or who will be choosing to be Israel, the response is not to ignore this or to resolve it by saying that people are stupid and ignorant. We need to look at what is actually operating behind it. Not behind the scenes in the sense that there are organizations with different agendas - that is known - but to look at this as something that is actually pressing us. It is pressing us to do our work. It is pressing us to understand that what we are doing matters, that the search for a different mode of feeling and understanding reality, of faith, is not a side matter. It is crucial.

This is a true calling. It is a true pressure. The point is not to accept the hatred, but to be able to read the real currents and the hidden currents that are at play right now. This pressure is not random. It is part of the voice of the Shofar of Mashiach, pressing those who carry this work to take it seriously and move forward.
